When you finish this unit, you should be able to:
- 1The learning goal associated with this unit is to design and execute an independent research project over the course of two semesters, under the guidance of a staff supervisor. Projects may be based in qualitative or quantitative methodologies, or may include a mixed methods approach. For example, a quantitative project based on surveys will typically require: elucidation of the research question, conduct of a critical review of the relevant literature in relation to the chosen topic area, deriving hypotheses, identifying a target population, gaining ethics approval, designing a questionnaire, gathering the data, analysing the data using appropriate techniques, drawing conclusions and producing a major analytical thesis of up to 20,000 words on the project.
