Modelling and control
MMA2005
Synopsis
This unit provides you with an introduction to the modelling, analysis, and control of dynamic systems across mechanical, aerospace, and robotics domains. Emphasising both classical and modern approaches, the unit equips you with the theoretical foundations and computational tools necessary to understand system dynamics and design feedback control strategies. You will learn how to represent real-world engineering systems through mathematical models—including transfer functions, state-space formulations, and block diagrams—and assess their behaviour in time and frequency domains. This unit serves as a foundational step toward advanced control applications and capstone design projects.
