Overview

Understanding public health issues as they exist around the world is a significant challenge for health professionals who are seeking to apply their knowledge to real-world situations. This unit aims to complement your existing discipline-specific public health knowledge and skills with an opportunity for you to undertake a real-world project in a public health setting. You will be provided with an experience of working in the public health environment to enhance understanding of public health career pathways as well as employability skills such as project management and professional communication. Selection for placement is competitive. You can choose from a range of project options provided through our partners at the University of Warwick and spend the equivalent of one day per week, over a flexible 10-week period working on a health and wellbeing project within an organisation. This organisation could be anywhere in the world, with you working in a ‘virtual’, off-site, environment. You will be supported in your professional skills development throughout the unit with a number of online modules and   interviews and workshops.
