Integrated wound care practice builds on the foundation knowledge of Part A of the Master of Wound Care, including wound healing, holistic wound assessment, differentiating between types of wounds and using assessment data to develop an appropriate management plan to optimise healing.
This unit is presented as a combination of online learning and practical application. Students will have the opportunity to review specific practical wound care-related skills including vascular assessment, measurement of ankle-brachial pressure index (ABPI) using Doppler, debridement of wounds, compression bandaging, offloading pressure, and using patient assessment in the development of wound management plans, including appropriate product/therapy selection.
