Overview

This unit introduces you to a range of concepts related to care of children and young people across a variety of settings.
You will explore the key differences in growth, development, anatomy and physiology that distinguish the care of children and young people from adults.
You will then utilise this knowledge as a foundation on which to build your understanding of the impact of these differences on assessment and communication.  The application of family centred care will be investigated in relation to communicating and supporting children and young people.  The role of the nurse in building partnerships to meet the needs of children, young people and their caregivers will also be explored.
