Overview
This unit builds on NUR3310, supporting students to develop nursing management skills related to the deteriorating patient in acute settings, and NUR2225 related to the client with an escalating mental health condition.
The unit focuses on teamwork, resilience, clinical risk and professional identity to prepare students for transition to professional practice.
This approach will complement the extensive clinical experience that students will undertake during this unit.
In simulated and clinical settings, students will apply evidence-based diagnostic, therapeutic and preventative techniques associated with caring for patients with complex healthcare needs in a range of healthcare settings.

Workload and teaching
- Tutorials21 hours
On-campus: 7 weeks teacher directed learning - 3 hours of tutorials per week including tutorials and clinical learning environment tutorials
Off-campus: 200 hours of clinical placement (40 hours per fortnight) Self-directed study: 67 hours (7 hours per week) Students must attend a minimum of 80% of all scheduled Clinical Learning Environment activities. Absences of greater than 20% of Clinical Learning Environment activities need to be explained. Students must attend 100% of the scheduled clinical placement. A medical certificate must be provided for all absences from clinical placement.
