Holistic mental health care
NUR5014
Synopsis
People experiencing mental health conditions experience poorer physical health and poorer health outcomes, and less access to services than people without mental health conditions. Mental health nurses can play a key role in being able to promote a holistic approach to health and wellbeing to support positive outcomes for people living with mental and physical health problems.
You will examine the social determinants of health and wellbeing and how these factors shape inequalities in health, particularly for priority populations. You will develop strategies to address, support and promote mental and physical health when working with consumers, families, carers and supporters. This unit will support you in being able to work holistically to improve the health and wellbeing of people living with mental health conditions.
