Synopsis
This unit introduces you to advanced symptom management in palliative and end of life care. Working with patients in the palliative and end of life phase of illness requires specific knowledge and skills to manage complex symptoms and support quality patient outcomes.
This unit will prepare you to understand complex symptoms from different types of health conditions, and provide palliative and end of life care in complex care situations. You will develop the skills to lead interdisciplinary teams and support the patient and their carers to achieve the desired outcomes. These functions require advanced knowledge and skills in symptom management, advanced therapeutics (pharmacological and non-pharmacological) and leadership.
