Overview
This unit focuses on the development of specialty knowledge necessary to work within medical, interventional, and surgical cardiovascular settings. The aim of this unit is to help you develop specialist knowledge of the pathophysiology, assessment, and management of patients with acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions. By utilising this specialist knowledge in clinical practice, you will be able to provide quality evidence-based care to improve the health outcome of patients with cardiovascular conditions. In this unit, you will learn about valvular heart disease, interventional procedures for structural heart disease, cardiothoracic surgery, diseases of the aorta, myocardial and pericardial disease, and adult congenital heart disease. You will also explore chronic disease management of the major cardiovascular risk factors and primary and secondary prevention.
