Synopsis

Nurses who work in trauma contexts require specialist trauma knowledge and the skill-base to assess and manage trauma patients throughout their journey. In this unit, you will study complex trauma care. You will examine evidence-based concepts to care for trauma patients with advanced care needs, inclusive of vulnerable populations. You will develop strategies to support the safe discharge of complex trauma patients. You will explore how leadership and teamwork contribute to advancing quality of trauma care, achieving team outcomes and supporting interdisciplinary engagement. You will establish skills to distinguish trauma literature and research that has a direct impact on the ongoing care of a person who has experienced trauma.
