Overview
This unit will prepare you for professional practice education and includes clinical reasoning in relation to the practice activities they engage in and observe. You will apply theoretical knowledge to the practice environment, learn to gather relevant client information, demonstrate client-centred practice principles, and demonstrate basic documentation skills (including progress notes, intervention goals and objectives). You will gain experience in critiquing assessment tools that occupational therapists use in a practice context.
You will complete two weeks (four days per week) of simulated clinical placement to develop self-management skills; communication skills with clients, co-workers and other stakeholders; information gathering, documentation skills; ability to work in a team; client centred and reflective practice skills. You will be provided with feedback and guided to reflect on and in practice within both academic and clinical contexts.
