Synopsis
This unit introduces the mechanisms and consequences of problems related to mental, sensory, cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological and biomechanical capacities that underpin occupational engagement and occupational performance. You integrate this knowledge into OT and related theories/models of practice. You develop clinical questions, and acquire knowledge and skills from the process of describing and evaluating occupational performance, and critiquing assessment tools for evaluating occupational engagement/performance. You will explore different practice contexts in which participation in occupation takes place. Case scenarios will be used throughout and you will undertake practice-based learning for 2 days per week throughout the term (135 hours).
