Synopsis

In this unit you will address the fundamental requirements for effective planning, leadership and the provision of definitive care for the complex retrieval and repatriation of sick and injured patients, both within the specialised aeromedical and also in non-specialised (commercial aircraft).

You will explore content that will address the effects of altitude on susceptible medical, surgical and traumatic conditions and will emphasise the importance of appropriate in-flight equipment commonly used for patient monitoring and ventilatory and circulatory support.

You will formulate clinical management strategies appropriate to your professional practice level including the prediction and prevention of potential aeromedical problems to ensure the safe and efficient transport of patients
