Overview
This unit supports the first step towards clinical
practice for students in their roles as provisionally
registered psychologists. Conducted at Monash’s
Turner Clinics, students will provide direct service to
individuals referred from the community. Clinical
presentations include issues drawn from across the
lifespan, as well as assessment and associated
report writing. All work is carried out under close
supervision by the clinic’s registered psychologists.
Students should aim to achieve approximately 100
direct client contact hours towards the 400 overall
hours they need to meet registration requirements.
Students will engage in clinic meetings, individual
and potentially group supervision, and where
applicable, joint work with intern colleagues and
supervisors. Students will participate in discussions
of clinical issues and recent developments in the
field of Clinical Psychology and will be challenged to
remain informed about such developments and
issues. Students will also attend Case Analysis each
week and be rostered to present at least one case
from their placement over the course of the unit.
