Synopsis
This unit investigates the technical foundations of painting. It considers the role of painting both within a rich history and as a contemporary medium of art practice. The unit provides you with an in-depth introduction to skills in a variety of painting processes with a particular emphasis on supports, grounds, pigments, colour, mediums, and a consideration of your works in the context of contemporary cultural production. Occupational safety in a studio context will also be addressed.
