Overview

In this unit you will study the anatomy of the upper and lower limbs. You will then apply this knowledge to radiographic appearances of the appendicular skeleton. You will develop an understanding of the complexity of the human body by studying structure and function of cells and tissues. You will also learn how genetic inheritance and biochemical molecules underpin normal biological processes of life. Practicals will reinforce lectures and tutorials.

Locate and describe the soft and bony structures that form the upper limb,

  2. 2

Locate and describe the soft and bony structures that form the lower limb,

  3. 3

Identify and describe the radiographic appearances of the appendicular skeleton and apply this knowledge to radiographic positioning,

  4. 4

Relate the histological characteristics of the 4 tissue types with their respective functions,

  5. 5

Discuss structural and functional features of eukaryotic cells including membrane transport and genetic inheritance,

  6. 6

Analyse how different biochemical molecules contribute to cellular metabolism.
