Prerequisite: Bachelor of Radiation Science students must have completed 120 credit points in the course including RTS4104.

Overview
This unit builds on the knowledge studies gain in RTS4104 and explores the use of radiation therapy to treat disease. The principles of patient centred, interdisciplinary and culturally safe cancer care are discussed alongside study of the fundamental concepts related to radiation therapy planning and dosimetry. A systems-based approach will be used to deliver anatomy, physiology, pathology and oncology of the; integumentary system, lower respiratory, lower digestive, urinary and renal systems. Simulated learning allows students to apply their knowledge to clinical cases.

Describe with reference to the evidence-base, acute and late radiation therapy side effects, analysing patient care and management strategies related to the above body systems
