Synopsis
This unit introduces you to contemporary thinking about working with materials, the unique properties of specific material, like glass, and the potential for material transformation in creative practices. The unit will focus on the development of processes specific to the cast object, including a consideration of the readymade or found object. Drawing on design and fine art histories and methodologies you will explore a range of processes using glass and other materials used in contemporary sculpture. You are encouraged to investigate traditional as well as contemporary materials.
