Synopsis
In this unit, you will analyse how communication and swallowing develops across the lifespan and illustrate how cultural-linguistic and psychosocial factors shape these processes. You will discuss key psychological theories relevant to speech pathology practice and apply learning theories that facilitate your own professional development and future practice. You will apply this knowledge to contexts relevant to speech pathology practice, strengthening your ability to interpret individual differences in communication and mealtime activities. Throughout the unit, you will also apply effective interpersonal communication and collaboration skills when working within teams.
