Overview
This unit provides you with work integrated learning experience through a period of approved placement in an urban planning or design entity in the public, private, or community sector. Placement will normally take place in the final semester of study for a period equivalent to one semester 6 credit point unit. The partner organisation provides field supervision, and the faculty provides academic supervision.
You will engage in a range of tasks depending on the placement. These may include preparation of plans and urban designs to address and manage land use and development issues and opportunities; gathering and analysis of community data using relevant technical tools including GIS; review and evaluation of strategic planning processes; teamwork with other planners, or with multidisciplinary and diverse groups; and/or application of project management and risk management principles, techniques and tools.
