Overview
Leaders within and managers of health and community service organisations are at the forefront of service delivery. They are facing a period of rapidly rising costs, an ageing population, and greater co-morbidity of the population. Being able to deliver sustainable services that promote equitable access, effectiveness, efficiency and safety in service delivery is one of the great challenges of our time. This PhD program will directly equip leaders in this area to meet this challenge

Program requirements
All graduate research students will be required to undertake compulsory training in the following areas:
- Monash Graduate Research Induction (online), to be completed within 30 days of commencement
- Research Integrity (online), to be completed within 30 days of commencement
- Cultural Foundations: Building your knowledge of Australia's First Peoples (online)
- Respectful research at Monash
- Faculty induction, including occupational health and safety (where required).
Professional development component
Students must, in consultation with their supervisor(s), satisfactorily complete a minimum of 120 hours of graduate research professional development activities offered or recognised by the University.
Within the minimum 120 hours of of graduate research professional development activities, students enrolled in this program must complete the following mandatory activities:
- Systematic review, meta-analysis, and resource allocation decision making in service provision; and
- Economic evaluations, equity and resource allocation decision making in service provision.
Students are to discuss with their supervisors which optional activities best suit their interests and area of study and complete any mandated activities. Students are required to update their supervisors on their progress toward achieving the required hours of professional development activities.
Students may be required to complete specific activities offered through the Monash Doctoral Program.
Attendance will be monitored to ensure hours are accurately recorded.
Students may also be directed or encouraged to attend and make presentations at various forums throughout their enrolment.
