This specialised program in Banking and Finance will equip you with knowledge and applied skills to manage money and investments in the dynamic landscape of the banking and finance industries. You will learn about key banking and finance concepts, including financial management, investments, risk management, international finance, and commercial and investment banking. The course is structured in four parts: Part A. Core studies, Part B. Discipline studies, Part C. Capstone studies, and Part D. Elective studies.
Part A. Core studies
This will provide you with a study of banking and finance disciplines and the impact they have on decision making in organisations.
Part B. Discipline studies
These studies will develop your capacity as a critical and creative professional who is able to apply knowledge of banking and finance to provide discipline-based solutions for business. Units contained within the discipline may meet the requirements for professional accreditation bodies.
Part C. Capstone studies
The capstone unit will consolidate your knowledge and skills acquired through the study of your course and provide experience in multi-disciplinary processes and decision making.
Part D. Elective studies
These are electives which will enable you to further your knowledge of banking and finance, or business more broadly, or to select units from across the University in which you are eligible to enrol.
Course progression map
The course progression maps provides guidance on unit enrolment for each semester of study.
You must complete units as specified in Parts A, B, C and D (144 credit points) including 96 credit points from Part A, B and C, and 48 credit points of electives in Part D.
In choosing your units, you must ensure that you complete no more than 60 credit points at unit Level 1 and at least 36 credit points at unit Level 3, including 24 credit points at unit Level 3 offered by the Faculty of Business and Economics.

Applicants will require a minimum of 60% average to be considered for selection. Preference will be given to applicants whose prior studies are related to the course. Programs that involve competency-based assessment without grades or marks will not meet the admission requirements.

Successful completion of this course may provide a pathway to the one year honours program Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) (B3701). To be eligible to apply for entry into Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) (B3701), you must have achieved a distinction grade average (70%) or above in 24 credit points of studies at Level 3. In addition, some particular Level 3 units may need to be completed for admission to honours.
