Overview
The globalising nature of information technology calls out for people who have both a strong technical background and an indepth understanding of human society and the factors that are shaping it.
This double degree course is designed to meet this need. As a graduate you will have the technical expertise to shape and manage current and emerging technologies together with the lifelong communication, research and critical thinking skills that are acquired through study in the arts and humanities.
Think about combining behavioural studies with business information systems to assist organisations improve their business processes. Study computer networks and security with criminology or conversely human rights or bioethics, and explore how technology confronts the boundaries between public and private. Or perhaps mix interactive media with communications and media studies or film and screen studies to add complementary skills. Or prepare yourself for an international career in IT by studying another language and culture.

Information Technology
C2000 Bachelor of Information Technology is a comprehensive course, structured in three equal parts. In the double degree course you complete:
Part A. Information Technology specified study
This will provide you with foundation skills and knowledge for your IT education and ensure a breadth of understanding of IT and its applications in organisations and society.
Part B. Information Technology listed major
This will provide you with a focused program of study that will develop your expertise in one area of information technology. You will develop the practical and theoretical skills and knowledge in your chosen major needed to successfully plan, develop, implement and evaluate information products and systems.
Arts
A2000 Bachelor of Arts is a comprehensive course, structured in three equal parts. In the double degree course you complete:
Part A. Arts listed major
This will provide you with a focused program of study that will develop your practical and theoretical skills and knowledge in one Faculty of Arts listed major area of study. You will learn to critically analyse, apply and communicate an advanced level of understanding of the concepts and theoretical frameworks that constitute the knowledge base of the area of study.
Part B. Arts specified study
This will expose you to several arts disciplines contributing breadth to your knowledge of the arts, humanities and social sciences. You will have the flexibility of learning about several areas of study before finalising your choice of major. You will also build skills and abilities that employers value and seek by completing units from the Professional Futures domains.

72; International: UERT Year 12/Foundation Band 3 (80-82.49); UERT Post-Secondary Band 2 (Credit)

All applicants must satisfy the equivalence of the VCE subject prerequisites.
VET Diploma graduates: Applicants can meet the mathematics prerequisite of the IT degree with either a VCE mathematics subject (with appropriate score) or with an IT-related Diploma.
To be considered for the double degree, applicants will normally require at least a 60% average. Preference will be given to students whose prior studies are related to the course in which they are seeking admission. Programs that involve competency-based assessment without grades or marks will not meet the admission requirements.
VET Certificate IV graduates: Applicants can meet the mathematics prerequisites with either a VCE mathematics subject (with appropriate score) or with an IT-related Certificate IV.
To be considered, applicants will normally require at least a 80% average. Preference will be given to students whose prior studies are related to the course in which they are seeking admission. Programs that involve competency-based assessment without grades or marks will not meet the admission requirements.
University course transfers: Applicants who already meet the minimum entry requirements of the course with their previous Year 12 (or equivalent) qualification require at least two completed university units to be considered for admission. More units (especially in IT and Arts/Humanities area) will be useful for selection.
Applicants who do not meet the minimum entry requirements of the course with their previous Year 12 (or equivalent) qualification must complete at least one academic year (equivalent to eight Monash units) with at least a 60% average.

Monash Level A, that is: IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall (no band lower than 6.0); or Pearson Test of English (Academic): score of 58 overall with no band lower than 50; or TOEFL Internet-based test: score of 79 overall with minimum scores: Writing: 21, Listening: 12, Reading: 13 and Speaking: 18; or Equivalent approved English test
