Overview
In Games and immersive media, you will explore technology-led creativity by developing your technical expertise and the creative freedom to develop your ideas. All aspects of game design and development are examined from both a theoretical and a practical perspective, with a focus on collaborative Studio environments to explore and realise unique concepts and ideas. Building upon foundation studies in 3D modelling, game prototyping and virtual world building, the design lead approach will prepare you for career opportunities in the games industry, in 3D modelling and animation, virtual reality, technical art, sound design, immersive visualisation and tangible and physical computing.
A major or minor in this area will add a creative element to students undertaking more technical IT or engineering studies, as well as providing practical IT-based skills to students undertaking studies in the art or design fields.
