In this course you will study fine art as part of a double degree with information technology and be part of the changing way we communicate and experience culture in the digital domain.

Fine Art
F2003 Bachelor of Fine Art is structured in five parts and develops through theme studies in history and theory, drawing, and fine art knowledge and practice. In the fine art specialisation, these will come together during the final two studio units in the third year of the course. In this specialisation, final projects will be exhibited in the graduand exhibition. In this double degree you complete:
Part A. Critical contexts
These studies will equip you with the skills necessary to research fine arts issues and provide the research methods relevant to your studio or workshop practice. They will enable you to contextualise your own practice and communicate ideas and strategies. Through the prism of history, as well as reference to bodies of knowledge relevant to cultural production, you will begin to situate the place of art in society.
Part B. Disciplinary practices
The studies will assist you to develop the perceptual, practical and intellectual skills required by art, design and architecture students in the discipline of drawing. This will introduce you to occupational health, safety and environmental training particularly within the context of studying art, design and architecture.
Part C. Studio practice
Through this component of the course you will develop key skills and concepts particular to your fine art specialisation. Through lectures and seminars, studios or practice driven workshops, you will develop the capacity for independent cultural production within fine art and related fields. Interdisciplinary skills and practices will be explored in conjunction with critical thinking.
Part D. Discipline electives
These elective studies provide you with the opportunity to deepen and broaden your knowledge and practice through the selection of electives in Fine Art or Art, History and Curating. In these studies you can choose to complete an internship or undertake an unit abroad or select units in your discipline that are of interest.
Information Technology
C2000 Bachelor of Information Technology is a comprehensive course, structured in three equal parts. In the double degree course you complete:
Part A. Specified studies
This will provide you with foundation skills and knowledge for your IT education and ensure a breadth of understanding of IT and its applications in organisations and society.
Part B. Major studies
This will provide you with a focused program of study that will develop your expertise in one area of information technology. You will develop the practical and theoretical skills and knowledge in your chosen major needed to successfully plan, develop, implement and evaluate information products and systems.

You must complete 192 points, of which 96 points are from the Bachelor of Fine Art (including all of the requirements in Parts A, B, C and D for the single degree) and 96 points from the Bachelor of Information Technology (including all of the requirements in Parts A and B for the single degree).
Units are 6 points unless otherwise stated.

All applicants must satisfy the equivalence of the VCE subject prerequisites.VET Certificate IV, diploma or advanced diploma graduates: To be considered, applicants will normally require at least 60% average. Preference will be given to students whose prior studies are related to the course in which they are seeking admission. Programs that involve competency-based assessment without grades or marks will not meet the admission requirements.University: Two single units at an Australian higher education institution satisfy minimum entry requirements, but more units may be useful for selection, especially in areas of study related to the course in which admission is being sought.
