The Bachelor of Psychology component of your double degree is designed for those who wish to study psychology and understand the complexities of human behaviour and the biological, psychological and social factors that contribute to individual group and community processes. You will learn about how psychological, social and personality factors influence thinking and behaviour as well as how interventions can be applied to help people lead more satisfying and meaningful lives.Your studies will enable you to pursue a career in a diverse range of fields including research, mental health and welfare, human resources, community services and counselling, education and health services. You could also undertake further steps to qualify to practice as a professional psychologist or pursue a career in counselling, welfare, social work, human resources, marketing or research.
The Bachelor of Science course will provide you with a broad, general science education, as well as specialist training in one or more science disciplines. The flexibility of the course and the wide range of majors and minors will allow you to explore new areas, further develop your strengths in science, and pursue your interests beyond the area in which you specialise.You will receive training in generic competencies - critical thinking, problem solving, quantitative and information literacy, communication and presentation skills, and the capacity to work in teams - and will develop knowledge and skills in at least one science discipline. This will ensure that you have a firm foundation for a career in science or in allied fields where scientific understanding and skills are central.

Bachelor of Psychology
The Bachelor of Psychology is structured in three parts: A. APAC level 1-accredited sequence, B. Discipline streams, and C. Elective studies. In this double degree you complete:
A. APAC level 1-accredited sequence
These studies will address core areas of psychology, including the theoretical and empirical basis of our current understanding of human psychology, brain function and evidence-based approaches to psychological intervention. Building a strong foundation in your understanding of psychology and neuroscience will enable you to appreciate the major challenges in psychology today and in the future. These studies will develop your understanding of scientific methodology and its application in psychology. You will learn to critically evaluate contemporary and historical claims relating to human behaviour and mental processes and apply your understanding to the generation of new research questions.
(This Psychology sequence is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC)).
B. Discipline streams
These studies will enable you to understand and apply a coherent body of knowledge to a range of contexts such as; personal, social, organisational, technological, global and use knowledge and its practice in an ethical manner, for the benefit of society in general.
Bachelor of Science
The Bachelor of Science is a comprehensive course and it will provide you with a broad, general science education, as well as specialist training in one or more science disciplines. This course is structured in three equal parts. In this double degree you complete:
Part A. Major studies (the Psychology major is not available within this double degree)
This part offers a coherent and in-depth program of study that allows you to develop expertise within one or more science disciplines. It supports both depth and breadth in your scientific education, enabling you to engage deeply with at least one chosen discipline while also gaining exposure to other areas of science. Through this flexible structure, you will explore different fields before refining your focus and build a strong disciplinary identity. You will develop advanced understanding of the core concepts and theoretical frameworks that underpin your discipline and learn to apply and communicate this knowledge effectively in scientific contexts.
Part B. Specified studies
This includes core requirements in mathematics, statistics or coding, ensuring you develop the quantitative foundations essential for scientific study, alongside a communication unit that supports the development of effective scientific communication skills. Together, these elements help build key capabilities that are highly valued across the workforce.

You must complete 192 credit points, of which 102 credit points are from the Bachelor of Psychology (including all of the requirements in Part A and 42 credit points from Part B. Note that the units PSY1013 and PSY3034 are not available to double degree students) and 90 credit points from the Bachelor of Science (including all of the requirements in Part A and 18 credit points from Part B which must include one mathematics and statistics unit, SCI1000 and either SCI3920 (enrolment is subject to availability of places) or SCI3930).
Note: Due to the double degree structure, the Psychology major is not available in this course.

These are minimum requirements, admissions to this course is competitive and applicants may need to meet a higher requirement to be offered a place

This course uses the entire academic record as part of its selection considerations. To be considered on your tertiary results alone you must complete at least six months of full time study (24 credit points) of a recognised university degree with a minimum average mark required is 65%. These are minimum requirements, admissions to this course is competitive and applicants may need to meet a higher requirement to be offered a place.
TAFE/VET:
Only science-based graded AQF Diplomas will be considered for entry into this course. Admission will be based on academic merit and applicants should have at least a minimum 70% average. Ungraded (competent/not competent) diplomas will not be considered. Qualifications below diploma level will not meet the entry requirements (e.g. Cert IV).

Monash Level A, that is: IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall (no band lower than 6.0); or Pearson Test of English (Academic): score of 58 overall with no band lower than 50; or TOEFL Internet-based test: score of 79 overall with minimum scores: Writing: 21, Listening: 12, Reading: 13 and Speaking: 18; or Equivalent approved English test
