Master of Pharmaceutical Science

The Master of Pharmaceutical Science provides you with the skills and knowledge in contemporary pharmaceutical science necessary to prepare you for a career in the pharmaceutical and related industries.

The course examines the fundamentals of drug discovery and development – from target identification, drug design and optimisation, and formulation, through to clinical trials, and regulatory processes – and will use case studies and hypotheticals to highlight and address key issues and challenges in these processes. You will gain hands-on experience in a range of analytical, formulation, modelling and research techniques relevant to the practice of contemporary pharmaceutical science. The guiding principles of sustainability, social responsibility and positive impact will underpin all learning in this course.

The course culminates in you undertaking an extended placement in either an industrial or research organisation in the field of pharmaceutical science or a related industry and concomitant capstone unit, where you will have the opportunity to integrate, consolidate and demonstrate your learning in a professional environment.
