Overview

You will learn through this unit that media and communications is not just situated in the domain of creative endeavours, but that successful communication and media management is crucial to the growth and survival of any organisation. This unit will focus on developing media strategies for both internal and external contexts, such as promoting safer workplace environments, or engaging with external stakeholders in times of crisis. You will be introduced to a variety of media processes that require expertise and active management in any organisation.

Learning outcomes

When you finish this unit, you should be able to:

    Analyse the complexities of internal and external communications in order to gain a leadership perspective of a professionally and socially diverse workplace;

    Produce reports, policy briefs, and other works that positively promotes a safer, more equitable, and ethical working environment;

    Develop media strategies to productively engage with external stakeholders, the public, and the media particularly in times of crisis;

    Collaborate with others to identify and utilise collective skills and expertise to maximise impact of media strategies, as well as develop and utilise task management skills.
