Introduction to professional writing

Synopsis
In Introduction to Professional Writing, you will learn a range of genres in professional writing and your respective conventions from campaign writing and basic journalism to business writing and so forth. You will first be taught the four main types of writing, but with particular focus on descriptive, expository/argumentative and reflective writing, and what they each entail before engaging the aforementioned genres. Issues involving ethics in, and effective, professional writing will also be covered in this unit. Classes will be conducted to simulate writing workshops during which you will have the opportunity to practice and discuss your writing. You will develop and demonstrate your professional writing skills individually and in collaborative groups, in communication formats including report writing and poster presentations, among others.
