Overview

The unit prepares students to design, deliver and evaluate criminal justice policies.

Students are introduced to the dynamics of crime and justice policy-making in states, territories and federally. The unit considers theoretical explanations of governance and implementation of policy in practice. Students will learn how to develop, analyse and evaluate criminal justice policies. Students will gain an understanding of how public policy is developed and can be influenced by politics and special interest groups. This unit will explore policy issues related to crime prevention, recidivism, overrepresentation of certain people in the criminal justice system and the outsourcing of criminal justice service delivery
