This unit introduces fundamental principles of sustainable architectural design focusing on the investigation and combination of appropriate materials, structures, fabrication methods and component systems as they apply to building construction and performance. This includes the study of material properties, historical context, environmental sustainability and impacts, and involves assessment of architectural performance and application in design.
