Synopsis
The unit consolidates and extends cultural knowledge and communication skills acquired in ATS1111. You acquire skills in listening, speaking and reading, as well as competency in grammar, language structure and culturally-specific aspects of Indonesian linguistic interaction, especially politeness. Through completion of the ‘Knowing Indonesia Through Research’ component, you develop research skills while simultaneously increasing familiarity of Indonesian history and politics. Students taking this unit are required to have completed ATS1111 or have acquired a basic knowledge of Indonesian language and culture through formal study or in-country experience.
