Synopsis
This unit is designed to develop your Japanese language skills to an advanced level, while introducing you to Japanese literature and film, as well as approaches to literary translation and subtitling. You will develop reading and listening skills, research skills using Japanese resources, discussion skills, and will use a variety of Japanese media, including the Internet. Writing skills to be developed include translation, summary, synthesis and argument in essay writing. Teaching materials will relate to Japanese literature, focusing on modern and contemporary Japanese literature and film.
