Engaging cultures and the art of the festival
ATS3184
Synopsis
The unit focuses on the development of international arts festivals in Indonesia as a form of cultural engagement between Indonesians and an international audience. You will examine festivals as a form of dialogue which reflects both the creative endeavour and explorations of identity that commonly underlie these festivals. The practical hosting of events and the use of festivals as a form of soft power promoting Indonesia's culture and image to the world are reviewed with options to explore the local economic and social impact of the festivals as an investment in Indonesia's creative industries.
