Synopsis
You will build on your competency in speaking, writing and reading and aural comprehension by exploring the linguistic and cultural forms of Indonesian storytelling. You will complete four modules: folk stories and storytelling; narrative and ‘community values’; autobiographical narrating, and; animation. The structures and conventions of storytelling are focussed upon in this unit. Assessment tasks focus upon acquisition of skills in self-narrating, and on competency in specialised genres of storytelling in Indonesian. The ‘Knowing Indonesia Through Research’ component guides you in the development of a portfolio of Indonesia-related research on a disciplinary theme chosen by you.
