Overview
This unit builds on the skills learned in Professional Project 1, and provides students with an opportunity to develop applied research skills by the design and execution of a real world applied research project. Emphasis is placed on the development of skills in critically evaluating research, planning, designing and undertaking a research project, working as part of a team, and reporting to various audiences. Students will be assessed both individually and in teams. This unit will equip students with and understanding of, and proficiency in, applied research design and the research process. It will also provide experiences in working in research teams, and managing professional relationships. Students will learn how to write for different audiences, including for policy and industry practice, as well as academic requirements around the reporting of research results. Importantly, this unit will directly expose students to a range of potential future employers, allowing students to showcase the skills and abilities learned during their degree, as well as being provided unique insights into the crime and justice sectors across Australia.
