Overview

This capstone unit in the International Studies major offers students the opportunity to analyse critical global issues while boosting their employability in a diverse range of industries.  Students in this unit will apply their interdisciplinary training and capabilities to a simulated ‘real-world’ research project, at the same time gaining experience in collaborative project work. Students will work in teams to develop a high-level briefing document for a relevant international organisation, for instance an NGO or United Nations agency. Each project will address a particular issue of contemporary, global concern, such as inequality and injustice, political or religious conflict, or environmental sustainability. Students will identify the key challenges inherent to the issue and make policy recommendations tailored to the organisation for which they are ‘working’.
