Synopsis
This unit offers you the opportunity to develop your interpersonal skills, reflective abilities, and professional vision, which are together crucial to a successful and worthwhile career as a media worker. You’ll do so through a team-based project that simulates the realities of media work in remote or distributed working environments. This simulation is an alternative or complement to more traditional internships and work placements, as it integrates practical work with a focus on the development of your reflective practice, career planning, and merging professional identity. You will explore and practice a range of “soft” media skills – such as communication, teamwork, feedback, and networking – while working closely with peers on real-world tasks developed in consultation with industry partners. This fast-paced and challenging environment offers a unique opportunity to showcase your readiness for the professional world with authentic, workplace-oriented assessments and performance expectations, while exploring and clarifying your vision and plans for a worthwhile career in media.
