Enrolment rules
Prerequisite: Twelve credit points of second-year Arts units. It is highly recommended that students only take this unit after they have completed two gateway units in Sociology.

Overview
The unit examines the social dynamics of the Australian population. The components of population change will be examined, as will its dramatic associated social consequences of. Substantive issues covered will include youth transitions and generational change (including housing and education/labour market trajectories), population ageing, trends in fertility and partnering in Australia, and the factors shaping Australian immigration policy, and social and political participation. You will also learn how to address a population question in-depth through case studies and publicly available data.
