Overview
The unit involves a program of visits and/or project in collaboration with international organisations, carried out in-country overseas. The destination country is allocated by staff each year, and varies from developing nations to highly industrialised contexts. The unit begins online, where students delve into the history, politics and culture of the study-tour country, and gain an understanding of how the domestic and international news media operate in that context. Students then attend an intensive workshop held at Monash University (Caulfield campus) to advance their skills in journalism practice, research and/or project management. Students will then travel to the study-tour country, where they will carry out a program of visits and/or collaborative project.
