Synopsis
This unit aims to develop a fundamental understanding of chemical reaction kinetics and reactor design, including:
1. Fundamentals of design of ideal reactors
2. Rate laws, collection and analysis of rate data, stoichiometry
3. Isothermal reactor design
4. Multiple reactions, reaction mechanisms and pathways
5. An introduction to bio-reaction engineering
6. Non-isothermal reactor design including reactive chemical hazards and safety in reactors with exothermic reactions
7. Catalysis and catalytic reactors, catalyst deactivation and regeneration.
