Workload and teaching

  • Workshops2 hours
  • Teaching approachActive learning

Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of 4-6 hours of scheduled learning activities and 6-8 hours independent study per week. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher-directed learning, peer-directed learning and online engagement. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities.

This unit is delivered in two modes: face-to-face classes, for students studying on campus, and online, for students who are studying remotely. The main learning approach is active learning which requires students to be involved as proactive learners in the activities and assignments rather than passive listeners. There are no right or wrong answers to many of the project questions and activities. This does not imply that any answer is adequate. Some answers will be better than others as they achieve the criteria in a better way.
