Synopsis
The Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) afford learners the means to understand and act in the world from an early age. This unit explores how you as a primary teacher can best facilitate the learning of the learners you will teach using single-disciplinary, multi-disciplinary or integrated lenses. You will explore how the HASS learning area is taught in the primary years and engage with pedagogical viewpoints and assessment strategies relevant to the HASS curriculum. You will also learn and develop the skills of implementing the HASS curriculum using inquiry-based methodologies and via deliberate connections to real-world issues.
