Synopsis
This unit examines how teachers teach primary school learners to learn and understand the world through Humanities and Social Sciences or HASS (the knowledge and understandings of history, geography, civics and citizenship, and economics and business) using single-disciplinary, multi-disciplinary and integrated lenses. You will explore how the Humanities and Social Sciences is taught throughout the primary years, reflecting on strategies for engaging learners in HASS learning. You will engage with theoretical, philosophical and pedagogical viewpoints, and assessment strategies that address issues derived from the relevant curriculum frameworks, including the cross-curriculum priorities and general capabilities. You will also learn and develop the skills of lesson planning and implementation of curriculum in HASS through single-disciplinary, multi-disciplinary and integrated studies, using inquiry teaching and learning methodology.
