Transition to the profession
EDF3064
Synopsis
This unit begins to prepare you for your transition into professional practice as a teacher. By drawing on a range of literature and teacher resources, and reflecting on the knowledge, skills and professional experiences developed during the course, you will begin to develop an understanding of how to communicate your professional identity through key professional tasks such as drafting job applications and preparing for interviews. The unit will guide you in exploring the ethical, professional, industrial, legal, emotional, intellectual, and physical dimensions of the teaching profession. You will also start thinking about long-term professional learning and career planning. Topics explored in this unit include: your personal, professional teacher identity; reflective practices; strategies for engaging with parents, carers, and community stakeholders, confidentially and respectfully; and professional conduct and ethics.
