Synopsis
This unit prepares you to become an effective and knowledgeable specialist geography teacher. It develops your knowledge and understanding of current policies, theories, research-based principles and methods in geography education locally, nationally and internationally. In addition, you will research how these impact on curriculum and pedagogy for geography teachers. The unit involves research into various priorities, strategies, resources, policies, activities (e.g. ‘signature pedagogies’ such as fieldwork) and forms of assessment for an effective contemporary geography education.
