Synopsis
This unit builds on the understanding developed in EDF5139 Humanities: Geography in secondary years A, to allow you to develop advanced knowledge, skills and capabilities as a specialist geography teacher. It extends your understanding of current trends and approaches in geography education, through a focus on the uses and applications of fieldwork, information and communication technologies (ICTs and AIs), personal geographies, environmental and sustainability education, and civics and citizenship education. You will critically examine school geography drawing on a range of local, national and international perspectives on geography curriculum, resources and assessment, and on learners of diverse backgrounds and abilities. You will also be expected to be able to conduct research to develop your understanding of contemporary geography education priorities and practices.
