Relationships and wellbeing in educational leadership
EDF5627
Synopsis
In this unit, you will understand the importance of relationships, emotions, and wellbeing in educational leadership. You will explore different approaches to theorising leadership, relationships, wellbeing, and emotions, drawing on a range of perspectives. You will explore leadership and emotions both in leaders themselves (inner leadership), as well as their relationships with others (inter-personal leadership). In doing so, you will develop an understanding of the factors that influence leaders’ emotions and wellbeing including the pressures and challenges of leadership in education today. You will explore the intersections of identity and leadership, and develop an understanding of how emotions and relationships are experienced differently for different groups in education. You will examine how leaders can make use of this knowledge to build trust and develop relationships while emphasising the well-being of themselves and others.
