Overview
This placement unit provides a structured opportunity to apply and further develop your competencies in real-world psychological practice with diverse clients and settings. You will apply your advanced knowledge of professional ethics to clinical practice. Psychological practice undertaken in this unit contributes to the total placement hours required by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) for the course. You will spend between 15 hours and 25 hours each week at placement over six months (or 12-month equivalent). You will be supervised by your field supervisors at a minimum ratio of 1:15 hours, and also have regular contact with your university supervisor. Group reflection sessions are scheduled regularly throughout the placement and are facilitated by the university supervisor.

Minimum total expected workload comprises:
(a) For D6007 students:
400 hours of clinical placement experience, including a minimum of 175 direct client activity hours. Permission may be sought to transfer some hours between the two clinical placement units.
Scheduled hours include group reflection sessions, competency reviews, and professional development, and will be scheduled across the duration of the placement.
(b) For D6016 students:
400 hours of clinical placement experience, including a minimum of 150 direct client activity hours. Permission may be sought to transfer some hours between the two clinical placement units.
Scheduled hours include group reflection sessions, competency reviews, and professional development opportunities, and will be scheduled across the duration of the placement.

You will be provided with the opportunity to apply your theoretical learnings into practice while in a supported environment.
During the regular group reflection sessions, you will present de-identified cases and engage in problem-based learning using scenarios arising from placement experiences.
