Designing for interaction and collaboration
EDF5770
Synopsis
Designing effective online learning requires educators to carefully design for different forms of interaction and collaboration. This unit equips you to understand how, when and why interactivity and social learning activities can enhance digitally enabled learning experiences. You will explore theories, models and strategies that inform the design of interactive and collaborative learning, utilising a range of technologies and pedagogical approaches. The unit emphasises intentional design for synchronous and asynchronous engagement, peer learning, and co-creation. You will examine the design implications of platforms such as discussion boards, collaborative digital tools, simulations, immersive environments and artificial intelligence (AI), while also addressing the challenges of learner engagement, facilitation, and social dynamics.
